Product Description
Region : The entire area of Touraine is about 13,000 hectares. More than 700 000 hectoliters are produced there annually in cellars dug into the steep cliffs of the region. This vineyard landscape offers the optimal amount of exposure, protection against wind and good drainage of precipitation. Touraine is located on the sedimentary Parisian basin formed during the Mesozoic era from marine deposits. These deposits consist of white chalk called “tuffeau”. The top most layer of deposit, which has less limestone but is rich in clay and silica, forms the “flint clay” that covers the plateau.
