Region : The vineyard of Tokaj is located in the north-east of Hungary, on the border of Ukraine. It is enclosed between 3 mountains and extends over 5,500 ha (of which 3,000 are planted). Generally, the subrock consists of volcanic tuff, and loess soil and clay on top.

The proximity of Tisza and Bodrog rivers creates a microclimate

favorable to the development of noble rot. The weather is

characterized by harsh winters, dry summers and long autumns, dry and sunny suitable for passerillage.

Since 1630, Tokaj’s production has been regulated. It is one of the first regions in the world to have benefited

an appellation of origin (1772).

Density of Planting : 3000 to 5000 vines stock per hectare.

Age of Vines : 25-30 years old.

Features : Contains sulfites. Sugar: 162 g/l. Sugar-free extract: 60,0 g/l. Alcohol: 11,0 %. Acidity: 11,7 g/l.

Winemaking : Aszu berries picked one by one several times, whole grapes were harvested at the beginning of November for base wine. Aszu berries were macerated for 4 days before pressing. Spontaneous fermentation in barrel and aged for 4 years in Hungarian barrel.

The Colour : Middle- gold colour.

The Smell : In the nose appears smoke, vanila, quince Apple, overripe apricot, dried pear, aszú berry and paprika.

The Taste : On the palate you can feel apricot, rosehip, date. Full bodied wine with long, exciting aftertaste, nice creaminess. It has a great aging potential ( 100 years) because of the high acidity and sugar content.

Serving Suggestions : caramel and dried fruit cake or goose liver paté.

To be served at 11 to 13°C.
