Product Description

Region : The soils of the Poitou-Charente are composed of sedimentary limestone. The oceanic climate that characterizes the region is temperate and always ensures a gentle atmosphere, conducive to the development of vines and a progressive but balance ripening of the grapes.

The Vineyard of Château de Beaulon is on hillsides, North of the Gironde estuary (altitudes ranging between 23 and 52 m).

Ground maintenance and fertilization: exclusively with organic fertilizers.

Winemaking : After harvesting the grapes are macerated and subsequently pressed. Maceration is done for a few hours, so that the red pineau gets its color. Some Cognac is added to the juice to stop the fermentation. The Cognac is at least 60% alcohol and aged at least one year (from the harvest of the previous year).

Aging of the Pineau des Charentes is necessarily done in oak barrels. Aging is done for at least 12 months, including 8 months in wooden barrels. This pineau is aged for 5 years in Limousin or Tronçais oak barrels.

Bottled with only the help of gravity, after filtration.

The Colour : Dark ruby.

The Smell : Candied cherries, dried fruit.

The Taste : Fresh, frank, supple, full-bodied with notes of black cherry in alcohol, blackcurrant and red rose. Perfect harmony of fruity strength and mellowness.

Serving Suggestions :

Melons, foie gras, chilled with red grapes, rabbit Saintonge-style.
Chocolate, cherry, raspberry and strawberry desserts.
As an aperitif, delicious on its own, served chilled at 8 °C.
